TRUMPF C 160-2 and C 160-2 PLUS slitting shears simply cut better The new TRUMPF slitting shears tool system has a consistent user-friendly design. When using dual-cutting shearing tools, cuts can be made on sheets and plastic-coated metal parts with a material thickness of up to 1.6 mm with greater precision and speed, as well as free from burrs and torsion. The expansion of the TRUMPF shears series by two devices developed in-house on this basis, opens up potential new applications in ventilation and facade construction, in car body workshops and in dry finishing. This shear technology is also optimally suited for machining tasks, such as making openings on folded spiral seam tubes or cutting corner profiles into lengths. A unique feature of TRUMPF slitting shears - which are also available in a battery and compressed air version - is the front-opening tool system with extremely stable knives, indexable inserts and an excellent view of the incipient crack. Thanks to this open tool system, the C 160-2 can easily be retracted from the workpiece at any point without obstruction by the roller cutting, and re-applied. For internal cutouts, the C 160-2 PLUS with integrated chip cutter is optimal.

Fig. 5.4.3 C 160-2 PLUS slitting shears with integrated chip separator are especially suitable for notching tasks and internal cutouts Each device provides the user with two knives for straight cuts and radii up to 80 mm, as well as a curved knife for minimum radii of 30 mm. In addition, a chromed steel knife is available for applications in high strength materials and for machining folded spiral-seam tubes. All knives are compatible with both types of device. They can be changed quickly and safely in a single movement - without the need for additional tools or adjustments. Optimal cutting play adjustment to the sheet thickness occurs automatically with the right knife selection. The knife lifetimes, at up to 500 cutting metres, are considerably further increased by the indexable inserts. The strikingly small cutting head and the modern device design give the slitting shears extreme manoeuvrability and flexibility with extremely low-scratch cutting. A parallel stop can be integrated into the slitting shears, enabling dimensionally accurate and reproducible cutting to size of sheet strips up to 300 mm wide. A workstation is also available for small workpieces and frequently recurring cutting tasks in the workshop. Author
