Revolutionising window installation, perfecting design, optimising building physics

Economic, design and building physics advantages of the Fech-Jet System® in comparison with conventional window installation

In comparison with conventional window construction, the Fech-Jet System® offers a number of advantages which have a striking effect on economic efficiency, execution quality and façade design.

This new-generation window system has been specially developed for sandwich construction and is ideally suited to the typical material characteristics and installation conditions of this ever more popular lightweight construction method.

In particular, the Fech-Jet System® also takes account of exacting demands on façade design, building physics quality and durability of the window structure.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Substantial reduction in installation time.
  • Considerable cost saving, as no edging of the sandwich panels or subsequent framing of the windows, either inside or out, is necessary and no substructure is required.
  • High design quality, as the construction principle removes the need for interfering screws or rivets as well as angled mitre cuts.
  • Optimal design freedom since the welded aluminium outer frame is available in any RAL colour.
  • Optimal heat insulation and outstanding imperviousness of the entire window frame structure, including the corner areas, as well as higher durability since no fasteners protrude through the frame.

Substantial reduction in installation time

Neither screws nor rivets are required to install the Fech-Jet System®. The new construction principle is based on a clamping joint between the completely welded aluminium outer frame and the window frame. After insertion of the window frame, the special profile formation produces a clamp connection, which gives an absolutely friction-locked connection.

Thanks to the special profile formation of the patented window frame, edging of the sandwich panels is completely unnecessary during installation. Subsequent framing of windows or doors, either inside or out, is also no longer necessary.

This results in an enormous time saving during installation. Time measurements in practice show that the Fech-Jet System® can be completely installed in facades with sandwich panels within 20 to 30 minutes.

Considerable cost savings

In addition to the cost savings from greatly reduced installation times and material savings in fasteners, there are yet further savings.

As a rule, no substructure is required to install the Fech-Jet System® thanks to the rigid frame structure and the friction-locked joining of the aluminium outer frame to the window frame and sandwich panels.

This means that there is also no requirement for additional plumbing or facing work for such substructures.

Whether additional structural measures are necessary must be decided on a case-by-case basis.

High design quality

The plug-in principle with clamping lock gives an absolutely clean view both inside and out. Not a single screw or structural accessory spoils the facade. This is particularly advantageous when designing sandwich facades with concealed fastening. As the window frame is welded at all four corner points, no mitre cuts spoil the appearance. The entire window frame has a homogeneous smooth surface which is not interrupted at any point. Thanks to the bevelled design of the outer frame, no window plate is required.

Design freedom with a wide range of colours

The surface of the welded aluminium outer frame of the Fech-Jet System® can be treated with all technically feasible colour powder coatings and can thus also be manufactured in all RAL colours.

This permits adaptation to the broadest range of manufacturer's colours for sandwich panels, as well as allowing colour contrasts with the window frame and the sandwich panels.

Broad range of sandwich profiles, panel thicknesses and window types

The Fech-Jet System® can be installed in most standard sandwich facades, irrespective of whether the window opening has been generated through structural measures (recess) or by retrospective cut-out. Depending on the sandwich profile, the profile areas between window frame and sandwich panel are reliably sealed through differently moulded special seals. Thanks to the adjustable aluminium outer frame, the window system is suitable for sandwich panels in all standard thicknesses from 60 to 120 mm, as well as for the most diverse window areas.

Optimal building physics characteristics

Thermal insulation and imperviousness

Five insulating chambers provide optimal heat insulation and reinforce the overall window structure. In addition to the thick window frame structure, the patented joining technique of frame and window frame guarantees additional tightness against air permeability and driving rain.

Test reports from ift Rosenheim substantiate the high quality air permeability of the joints (DIN EN 42), imperviousness to driving rain under static pressure (DIN EN 86), resistance to wind (DIN EN 77) and to mechanical stress (DIN EN 107).

Fig. 6.1.11 Thanks to optimal building physics properties, the Fech-Jet System® can fulfil even the highest demands

Tests in accordance with EN 1027 show that even with a water pressure of 600 Pa over a period of five minutes, no penetration of water can be detected either at the back of the window or at the cut edges of the sandwich panels.

This test of imperviousness to driving rain of the Fech-Jet System® was performed by Illbruck in its own test laboratory. The Fech-Jet System® naturally complies with all relevant heat insulation standards and the new EnEV.

Sound insulation
The Fech-Jet System® provides excellent sound insulation in compliance with the conditions of DIN 4109.

Fire Protection
The building material class as per DIN 4102 of the entire window structure is B1 - low flammability.

Statics
The galvanised steel reinforcement of frame and casement ensures durability, without distortion of the frame. If no other design loads are required in any invitation to tender, wind loads in accordance with Tab. 1 of DIN 1055 Part 4 can normally be assumed.

The installation of the Fech-Jet System® has been tested with regard to static aspects.

Format
The Fech-Jet System® can be manufactured as a rotating, sliding and tilting system, as well as with fixed glazing. It can be used on both the outer façade and for internal and partition walls.

Quality assurance
The Fech-Jet System® is manufactured in accordance with the state of the art. Guarantees are available in the form of guarantee deeds with a guarantee period of 5 years.

The guarantees relate to the requirements of RAL-GZ 716/1 T1 and T2, including impact value of the profiles in accordance with DIN 53753, to dimensional stability, shock resistance in the cold, weld angle as well as light and weather resistance. This guarantee also extends to chemical resistance and colourfastness of the window profiles.

RAL quality mark for installation
On the basis of the RAL quality mark for "Manufacture and Installation", Fenstertechnik Werner Fech was conferred the right to bear the RAL quality mark for the installation of windows and front doors.
